RESPONSIBLE FIBERS //

Where It All Starts

Option 1.png

CIRCULOSE®

Soorty uses innovative raw materials to design fabrics with circular design features to keep more of what has already been used in the loop.

Circulose® is made from 100% discarded textiles that can no longer be used. It is a ‘dissolving pulp’ that can be used to make viscose. These fibers are then spun into yarns, woven or knitted into fabrics and finally cut and sewn into new high-quality textile products.

Circulose® contains %30 cellulosic pulp from post consumer garments and %70 virgin wood pulp.

SECOND LIFE FIBERS

Brand of recycled cotton products under the Soorty umbrella revolutionizing textile production by repurposing discarded fabrics that could no longer be used into regenerative cotton solutions via denim-to-denim recycling.

POST CONSUMER WASTE (PCW) :

Clothing waste generated by consumers that is no longer wanted & usable.

POST INDUSTRIAL WASTE (PIW) :

Waste generated by producers – scraps, trimmings or other by- products that never made it to the consumer phase.

ORGANIC COTTON

Grown with methods and materials of low environmental impact, refusing the use of toxic & persistent pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and genetically engineered seeds.

Replenishes soil fertility and builds a biologically diverse agriculture.

Requires 91% less water in comparison to conventional cotton.

Third-party certification organizations exist for verification.

Soorty is both GOTS and Organic Content certified and we use both blends and 100% organic content in our developments.

BETTER COTTON INITIATIVE

Found to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the industry’s future.

Designed to ensure the exchange of good practice and to encouraging the scale up of collective action, BCI aims to make cotton a sustainable, mainstream commodity.

TENCEL™

Lenzing™’s 100% biodegradable, men-made cellulosic fiber of botanic origin coming from eucalyptus wood pulps.

Produced in a closed loop technology; it brings along a natural comfort, a very smooth and soft hand feel, shine and versatility to the fabric.

REFIBRA™

Reborn Tencel that utilizes industrial cotton waste - i.e. left overs - by bringing it together with wood pulps to produce fiber.

Contributing to a circular economy in textiles, fabrics with Refibra have a very soft touch and a natural sheen.

MODAL®

Rayon was the first regenerated cellulosic fiber after cotton. Modal is known as the second generation rayon developed in early 50s and is 100% biodegradable.

At Soorty we use Lenzing™’s spun-dyed modal fiber, meaning colored pigments were added to the spinning stage to produce fabrics with a natural comfort, smoothness and versatility in different colors.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Being the second most demanded material in the textile industry after cotton, polyester is a man made fiber that has a higher carbon foot print in comparison to other fibers.

Soorty promotes developments with recycled spun and filament polyester verified by Global Recycle Standards.

REPREVE®

Made from pre-consumer or post-industrial waste saving, Repreve is a responsible synthetic fiber that saves;

-enough energy to run a compact fluorescent light bulb for 22 days

-more than the daily drinking water need of 1 person

-the amount of GHG a hybrid car emits in 3 miles per pound.

AMNI SOUL ECO®

Bio-Degradable Nylon enhanced with a unique formula, which enabling garments to quickly decompose when disposed properly.

Decomposes in 5 years while other synthetic fibers generally take decades to do so.

Faster decomposition allows us to convert it to biomass which can further be used as new environmental resources.

DUPONT SORONA®

The first fiber representing a shift from oil-based materials to bio-based.

37% renewably sourced from industrial corn that is not edible by humans.

Delivers good stretch, recovery and shape retention in a soft and smooth hand feel while providing ease of movement with no sagging and bagging.

UMORFIL BEAUTY FIBER®

Combination of viscose fiber and collagen peptides - the amino acids essential for a healthy skin’s youth and moisture, which is why they are so popular in the cosmetics industry

Made by repurposing fish scales that would cause acidification of the soil if abandoned; making the fiber not only beautiful for the skin but also for our planet.

DYNEEMA®

Ultra-strong fiber that provides a remarkable improvement in tensile & tear strength.

Ideal for functional clothing - e.g. outdoors, utility and active wear.

Fabrics made with DYNEEMA® are made to last longer.

LYCRA® T400® ECOMADE

Generally used for comfort stretches, T400 is preferred for its performance on low fabric growth and shrinkage as well as providing a long lasting shape retention.

At Soorty we use LYCRA® T400® EcoMade, where 65% of fiber content comes from recycled PET bottles and renewable plant-based resources.

COOLMAX® ECOMADE

Designed to improve breathability and performance, Coolmax® is widely used in the denim industry addressing to our daily-active lives.

Coolmax® EcoMade is made from 97% recycled resources such as plastic bottles

Moves moisture away from the skin and helps keep the wearer cool, dry and comfortable longer.

POST INDUSTRIAL WASTE

Waste generated by producers - scraps, trimmings or other by-products that never made it to the consumer phase.

Soorty owns a state of art waste recycling plant that reutilizes 40% of the cutting table waste; sending it back to spinning, adding up to 75 TONS of fiber / month.

POST CONSUMER WASTE

Generated by consumers, PCW is a no longer wanted clothing, probably about to end up in landfills.

COLLECTING: We collaborate with I:CO who collects jeans no longer wanted and ships them to our mill.

PREPARATION (panels, shredding, accessories) : They are separated from their metal accessories, sorted and directed to shredding to be torn into smaller pieces.

RECYCLING (fiber, yarn, fabric & jeans) :

The shredded pieces are re-purposed by being re-fibered and spun back to yarn in our recycling plant.

Blending the recycled fiber means not only eliminating waste on landfills but also a reduced use of virgin cotton saving water and enhancing our CO2 footprint

RESPONSIBLE CHEMICAL SOURCING

The chemicals used in denim production are key since they determine everything from color to finish, from shrinkage to fastness.

At Soorty we are continuously in search of better alternatives inline with our Better Chemical Compliance.

We are in constant communication with our suppliers to adopt innovations, alternatives and technologies that help leave a positive footprint on nature and generations to come.

GreenScreen® chemicals is an example - it is used for hazard assessment in chemicals to identify concerns and offer safer alternatives. Soorty embraces the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) recognized GreenScreen Certified™methodology en route to clean production.

ECOVERO™

LENZING™’s environmentally conscious viscose fiber derived from certified renewable wood sources using an eco-responsible production process by meeting high environmental standards. Its key highlights are:

-Sustainable wood sourcing - meaning that the raw material is coming from certified (FSC and PEFC) and controlled sources.

-It is awarded with the EU Ecolabel which is given only to products that meet high environmental standards throughout their life cycle; from raw material extraction to production, distribution and disposal.

- Compared with generic viscose, EcoVero™ provides up to 50% savings in its emissions & water impact

-Can be identified in the final product, even after long times of wear downs, providing traceability and recognition.

RE:NEWCELL

A completely biodegradable raw material that can be turned into fiber and be fed into the textile production. Produced in Sweden, utilizing renewable energy, the process involves dissolving used cotton coming from old, worn out garments or other textile waste together with viscose and turn them into re:newcell pulp. The pulp is a pure, natural, biodegradable raw material for the fashion industry; closing the loop since it allows complete recycling of used clothes and transforms high cellulosic waste. Using worn out clothing instead of virgin cotton saves thousands of liters of water while decreasing the CO2 emissions, energy and chemical use.
